About this John Bonham style drum loop

This month features a 4 bar tension-building half time shuffle loop reminiscent of Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham on “Fool In The Rain” at 70BPM. I was practicing some shuffle grooves, and as I had recently done some Led Zeppelin style recording sessions, I got inspired! It’s recorded with vintage drums, including a 70s Ludwig LM402, Bonham’s preferred snare drum.

I’m a huge Zeppelin fan, not just because of the songs themselves, but the band’s sense of rhythm. The way all instruments work together to create massive grooves is amazing. I try to apply this same sensibility to my sessions; paying close attention to the rhythm created by all elements of the song I’m recording to try and support it, making it feel the best I can.

Sometimes a simple groove is all it takes to get creative juices flowing! I hope you enjoy this and other free drum loops on my blog and use it to create!
